Glenmont Fall Family Fun Day; Saturday, Nov. 7; 11am to 3pm; Llewellyn Park, Main and Park Avenues, West Orange
If you've never been inside the Llewellyn Park complex in West Orange - now is your day to go. Thomas Edison's Glenmont home is open today for free tours, which means you'll be able to see inside of the residence as well as drive around the beautiful homes.
Llewellyn was America's very first planned residential community. At one time, the Colgate family lived in the development, and it was also home to abolitionist James Miller McKim who used his residence as an Underground Railroad safe house. Both Eleanor Roosevelt and Bill Clinton have visited homes here, and Whoopi Goldberg currently owns a home from where she commutes to her work in the city.
