All are welcome at the free event which takes place on Tuesday, July 7, at 7pm in the Community Room of the library, located at 30 Clinton Road, West Caldwell. The presentation is part of the library's Adult Summer Reading Series, which is based on the theme “Heroes and Antiheroes in Literature and Film." Howard Libov is a Professor of Film at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. Aside from teaching Film at FDU, Libov is also an award-winning film director, producer and screenwriter whose work has appeared on HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and PBS. “Unlikely Heroes in Film" Presentation Libov is expected to analyze and discuss film clips involving “unlikely heroes” in such movies as “Hud” starring Paul Newman, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” starring Jim Carrey, ”Get Low” starring Robert Duvall and Bill Murray and ”Favorite Son” written and directed by Libov himself. Published 6:13pm ![]() WEST CALDWELL, NJ - In August, the West Caldwell Public Library will be hosting a book and film discussion centered around Cormac McCarthy’s harrowing novel "No Country for Old Men.” As the library continues its "Heroes and Antiheroes in Literature and Film" summer reading series, readers are invited to read McCarthy's novel (copies are available at the Reference Desk) and are also welcome to come to the library and view the book's Academy award-winning film Best Picture film. Immediately following the movie there will be a lively discussion of the book and film and light refreshments will be served. The free event takes place on Wednesday, July 15, at 5:30pm in the library's Community Room. In order to prepare for its guests, the library requests that those attending let them know in advance. "No Country for Old Men" Starring Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin, "No Country for Old Men" tells the tale of rural Texas, where welder and hunter Llewelyn Moss discovers the remains of several drug runners who have killed each other in an exchange gone violently wrong. All are welcome at the free event which will include children's activities along with lunch. The gathering will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 12pm to 3pm, at Crane's Park, located at 30 Clinton Road, West Caldwell. Sixth Annual Family Fun in the Park West Caldwell Library, along with TD Bank, have put together an assortment of entertaining activities for the children to enjoy.

Published 9:29pm ![]() WEST CALDWELL, NJ - This weekend, the West Caldwell Public Library will be presenting a concert titled “Due Terre, Un Cuore” (Two Countries, One Heart) featuring award-winning tenor Salvatore Chiarelli. The program will feature popular, traditional and classical Italian pieces as well as Italian opera; Chiarelli will be accompanied by concert pianist Ishmael Wallace. The free event takes place on Sunday, June 7 at 2pm in the Community Room of the library, located at 30 Clinton Road, West Caldwell. Salvatore Chiarelli A native of New York City, Chiarelli was vocally trained in both Italy and New York City for the opera stage. He has performed as a soloist in productions in both North America and Europe. In 2006, Chiarelli recorded his first CD entitled “Due Terre, Un Cuore”, which include fifteen tracks of opera, Neapolitan songs, and musical theater. He has been a finalist for several regional vocal competitions throughout the United States and has been the recipient of several distinguished artist awards for his performances. Chiarelli has a wide singing range, sings in seven languages, in many different styles and genre of music. In addition, he has sung as a church soloist in Manhattan and the N.Y.
