Published 8:45pm ![]() LIVINGSTON, NJ - This weekend the public is invited to discover the creative environment which exists at the Riker Hill Art Park. Owned by Essex County, the complex is made up of many art studios where sculpture, painting, photography, and various crafts are created daily. On Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, from 11am to 5pm, the artists will showcase their innovations during their Open House and Fine Art Sale. The free event will feature open studios, a gallery exhibition, demonstrations and artwork for sale all around the Art Park which is located at 284 Beaufort Avenue, Livingston. Riker Hill Art Park sits on 42 acres which used to be a US Army Nike Missile Base in the 1950s. Essex County purchased the property from the federal government in 1974 for $1 and converted the buildings that once housed army facilities into studio space for artists.
