The class takes place from 6:30pm to 7:45pm, rain or shine, on the Clipper Pavilion Waterfront in South Mountain Reservation, and no registration is required. All are welcome at the gathering which will include many family activities and entertainers, along with a patriotic salute to Independence Day. Refreshments including ice cream and popcorn will be offered to guests and the Cloverleaf Tavern will also be offering meals for sale. This year, the Association is hosting a judged Short Bread bake-off which will be awarded wth prizes. ShortBread Bake-Off This year, the Association is hosting a judged Short Bread bake-off which will be awarded wth prizes at 3pm. Adults and children are welcome to try their hand at creating the cookie using only 19th-century ingredients. The rules are as follows:
The flag ceremony will begin at 1pm and will include the reading of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson and the flag raising will be performed by the scout honor guard. Caldwell’s Mayor Ann Dassing will give the welcoming remarks.

This week, the county will be offering the screening of "Divergent." The 9,000-square-foot mansion is a replica of a medieval Norman castle and is constructed of local trap rock trimmed with sandstone. Many of the rooms are uniquely designed with round or octagonal shapes and vaulted ceilings. There are six ornately designed fireplaces throughout the structure. There also is a 6,000-square-foot, two-story carriage house that was renovated in 1984 to accommodate offices. The property is located on 11 acres on the ridge of First Mountain, and provides spectacular views.

All are welcome at the Irish sport and cultural event which will include hurling and rugby matches as well as traditional Celtic entertainment. Game admission also includes soft drinks, beer and food. Published 10:10am ![]() WEST CALDWELL, NJ - This weekend, the West Essex community will come together in an effort to raise money to find a cure for cancer. Formerly the Relay for Life of Caldwell, the Relay for Life of West Essex has grown into a larger undertaking which now encompasses teams and individuals from all around the West Essex area. Janice Alworth Stickels is directing this year's efforts and is sending a call out to all in the community to participate in the Relay on the day of the event, or to show their support by coming in person to cheer on the walkers. Food will be available for purchase from local restaurants which will be offering refreshments during the occasion. This will be the first year the event takes place from noon until midnight instead of walking overnight as groups have in the past. So far 17 teams and 128 participants have registered and have raised over $34,400. Anyone can show up at the gathering and join the walkers by making a donation of their choosing; there is no registration fee. Additionally, a host of activities for all ages will take place throughout the day for everyone to come by and enjoy. All monies raised will benefit the American Cancer Society. The relay takes place on Saturday, June 13, from 12pm to 12am, at James Caldwell High School's Bonnel Field, located at 265 Westville Ave, West Caldwell. Relay for Life of West Essex Teams So far, 17 teams and 128 participants have raised over $34,400 for the 2015 fundraising year. Everyone is welcome to come to the walk on the day of the event, make their own donation, and participate as well. Together, all of the team and individual donations raised are collectively donated by Relay for Life of West Essex to the American Cancer Society. The registered teams are as follows:

Led by naturalist Dr. Dave Hall, the event takes place on Saturday, June 13, from 8:30am to 11am. Hikers will search for breeding birds in the wetland meadows and forests of the largely intact Essex County reservation. Participants are asked to meet in front of Stop & Shop, located at 875 Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell, and then carpool from there to the reservation. Note:
