Crane Homestead, Cleveland Birthplace and Kip's Castle Included on Essex County Holiday House Tour; Saturday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 6

WEST ESSEX, NJ - This weekend, Essex County residents are invited to tour 16 historic homes throughout the region which will be exquisitely decorated for the holiday season. Included in the offerings are West Caldwell's Crane Homestead on Westville Avenue, the Grover Cleveland Birthplace in Caldwell and Kip’s Castle Park on Crestmont Road in Verona.
For seven years, Essex County has hosted the self-guided Holiday House Tour so that the public can visit each site at their own pace. Each site will offer something unique, including musical entertainment, refreshments and educational programs. While most of the home tours are free, some sites require a donation for admission.

Vero Amici Ninth Annual Casino Night and Tricky Tray; Friday, June 12; 7pm; Hanover Manor, 16 Eagle Rock Avenue, East Hanover
EAST HANOVER, NJ - This week, Vero Amici for Charity will be holding their Ninth Annual Casino Night and Tricky Tray at the Hanover Manor. The event is their only fundraising event each year and allows the organization to raise funds which it then disperses to needy individuals and charitable organizations throughout the West Essex area. Tickets include Casino gaming chips, a buffet dinner, Cocktails and dessert. Those who win chips then trade them in for tickets which are used at the Tricky Tray at the end of the evening. The benefit takes place Friday, June 12, from 7pm to 11pm; the Hanover Manor is located at 16 Eagle Rock Ave, East Hanover.

Essex County Offers South Mountain Reservation Wildflower Walk; Tuesday, June 9; 6pm; Crest Drive, South Orange
SOUTH MOUNTAIN, NJ - This week, the Essex County Environmental Center is offering a Wildlife Walk through South Mountain Reservation and all are welcome. The gathering takes place on Tuesday, June 9, at 6pm. The group is gathering for the walk near the entrance to the Dog Park on Crest Drive at the intersection of West South Orange Avenue in South Orange.
Hikers will be led by a naturalist as they experience a guided nature walk within the wildflower preserve. Participants will identify different plants and discuss their ecological benefits and traditional use as food, medicine and craft.
A minimum number of participants is required so all interested should call to register.
