Disney's "High School Musical"
Considered a modern adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, "High School Musical" presents the story of two high school juniors from rival cliques. One an athlete, Troy Bolton, and the other a shy transfer student, Gabriella Montez, who excels at academics. When they try out for the leads in their school's musical, peer pressure and rivalries attempt to further divide the school.
The American Alliance for Theatre and Education
This year, the production’s community outreach focuses on advocating for Theatre Education which emphasizes that access to quality arts education experiences is a vital component to educating youth in the public school system. Onstage and off, cast and crewmembers are moved by the ability to create theatre together and remember their own school theatre experiences. The American Alliance for Theatre and Education “envisions a world where every child has access to drama and theatre; where every city has a theatre for young audiences; where every community has a youth theatre; where every school has a theatre arts curriculum.”
