Cedar Grove Police Investigating Suspect who Installed Camera and Skimming Device on Columbia Bank ATM
CEDAR GROVE, NJ - The Cedar Grove Police are asking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who is wanted in connection with installing a "Skimming Device" on an ATM machine in the township.
Chief Richard Vanderstreet,
the incident took place on
Saturday at about 3:52pm at
Columbia Bank, located at
1027 Pompton Avenue.
The suspect appeared to be carrying a dark colored and white Tommy Hilfiger shoulder bag.
According to Vanderstreet, the suspect first installed a wireless camera to the top of the outdoor ATM, and then installed a skimming device over the top of the debit card input port. As he did this, his actions triggered the ATM's internal alarm to alert the bank manager who then discovered the device and the camera attached to the ATM machine. Due to the bank's quick response, it does not appear the suspect would have obtained any customer identification.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact Cedar Grove Police Detective Bureau at 973-239-4100 or by email.
