CALDWELL, NJ - The Caldwell Police are continuing to investigate a bank robbery which occurred on Tuesday, last week, at the Lakeland Bank, located at 49 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell. The incident happened about 10:09am when the bank notified police that a man, who said he had a handgun, stole $600 from their location. The suspect reportedly did not display any weapon and then fled the scene into the area of Hilltop, near Mountain Avenue.
Area police were immediately notified, along with the FBI and Essex County Sheriff's Office.
The police set to work seeking the suspect who was described as:
For several hours, a very large police presence searched the neighborhoods and drove throughout the immediate area.

CALDWELL, NJ - The Caldwell Police notified the FBI and Essex County Sheriff's Office Tuesday morning as they seek to locate a white male who reportedly stole $600 from the Lakeland Bank, located at 49 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell.
The bank robbery occurred at about 10:15am; although the suspect reportedly told bank officials he had a handgun, he did not show one.
The Sheriff's office K-9 Unit has responded and a perimeter has been set up around the area by mutually-aiding police units.
As of now they are seeking:
A resident near Erwin Place reported a very large police presence in the neighborhood, with several units driving up and down the block and the surrounding blocks.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office confirmed that the K-9 unit was still on scene as of noon.
