Four-year-old micco becomes verona police officer for the day
Monday, Jan. 21
On Sunday, officers from the Verona Police Department and West Orange Police Department gathered at the Verona station to celebrate four-year-old Micco's birthday and then celebrated alongside his family as he became Verona Police Officer for the Day. |
Recently Micco received a serious skull fracture after a fall, and first responders learned that he lives with Alagille Syndrome. In order to brighten up his fourth birthday, officers decided to give him a full police celebration.
The surprise began yesterday as officers arrived at his home with blaring sirens and then escorted him and his family to the Verona Police Station where Micco was treated as a Hero. Micco was also presented with a small replica Verona Police squad car and received a visit from their K9 in training.
"Micco and his family were given a tour of police headquarters and Micco then received the birthday surprise he would never forget by getting sworn in as Officer for the Day by his law enforcement heroes," commented Verona Police Chief Chris Kiernan. "We gave him a uniform and badge, everything he needed to fit the part. We were very happy to welcome this brave young boy into our blue family." |
