The Family of Jerry Savage, formerly of Caldwell; Okinawa WW II Marine and Retired Essex Fells Chief of Police, Have Announced His Death

ESSEX FELLS, NJ - The family of Jeremiah J. Savage has announced that he passed away on Saturday, at the age of 89, at the West Caldwell Care Center. Family and friends are deeply saddened by their loss and the community will mourn his absence.
Jerry Savage was born and raised in Orange. During World War II, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa. After the War, Savage went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Seton Hall University. After living in Caldwell, he relocated to Parsippany in the early 60s.
For 29 years, Savage served a distinguished law enforcement career in the Essex Fells Police Department, was a long time member of PBA Local #81, and retired in 1983 as the Essex Fells Chief of Police.
Savage was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Church, Parsippany.
