Published 7:10pm NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - On Saturday evening, the North Caldwell Fire Department got together for an evening of celebration at Mayfair Farms, West Orange. Joining the volunteers for the happy occasion were North Caldwell officials Mayor Joseph Alessi, CFO Rich Mondelli, Administrator Mel Levine and Borough Engineer Frank Zichelli. Also on hand were Caldwell Fire Department Lieutenant Brian McClay, Cedar Grove Fire Department First Deputy Chief Mike Grasso, Essex Fells Fire Department Chief John Koffman, Verona Fire Department Lieutenant Matt Gifford, West Caldwell Fire Department Deputy Chief Michael Luker, and West Essex First Aid Squad Captain Jeff Sutherlin. The evening included an opportunity for the Fire Department to show their appreciation for the members who had given of their time and energy over the past years. For his distinguished service of 35 years, Firefighter Mark Bifalco was honored with an award on behalf of the grateful department and community. Firefighter Henry Forstenhausler, who was unable to attend, was honored with an award for serving as Vice President from 2011-2014. ![]() Firefighter Janice Alworth Stickles served as Secretary to the Department from 2010-2014 and was acknowledged for her time. Firefighter Randy D'Alessandro received an award for providing 15 years of service to the North Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department.
