Tommy DeVito, died last night in Las Vegas from complications of Covid-19
DeVito was the youngest of 9 kids who grew up together in an Italian-American family in Belleville ▪️ Age 8: Taught himself guitar ▪️ Age 12: Played for tips at local bars ▪️ Age 14: Quit school after grade 8 ▪️ Age 16: Formed an R&B band, The Variety Trio with his brother Nick and Hank Majewski, which was hired nightly ▪️ Age 26: 1954: The trio began performing with Francis Castelluccio (Frankie Valli), of Newark in The Variatones ▪️ Age 28: 1956: The Variatones became The Four Lovers and were signed to a RCA Victor recording contract; the group performed on Ed Sullivan ▪️ Age 32: 1960: After Nick left the group, Tommy's friend Joe Pesci introduced him and Frankie to Bob Gaudio. Joined with Nick Massi , the men formed The Four Seasons (named after a Union, NJ, bowling alley) ▪️ Age 42: 1970: Tommy DeVito left the group after he had his fill of touring |

▪️ Age 77: 2005: DeVito, Valli, Gaudio and (Massi was deceased) joined for the Broadway opening night of Jersey Boys ▪️ Age 78: 2006: DeVito released an album of Italian folk songs ▪️ Age 79: 2007: Belleville High School made Tommy an honorary graduated |
