FAIRFIELD, NJ - Today, Sunday, Aug 3., a fundraiser will take place at Taylor's Tap and Grill to benefit the family of slain Jersey City Police Detective Melvin Santiago. Santiago, only six months on the job, was killed while responding to a report of an armed robbery; he was later promoted posthumously. Today's event was organized by the restaurant's owner, Gregg Taylor, a retired Passaic County Sheriff's Officer.
$50 per adult
"We're really hoping to get a good crowd out," commented
Former President of the New Jersey Police Honor Legion Jim Durkin.
"I invite the Law Enforcement Community to step up to the plate
and come over to the fundraiser. This could have happened to any one of us. The Thin Blue Line MUST stick together."
