For the seventh year, the couple is also training to participate in the New Jersey / Long Branch Half Marathon as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s "Team in Training" (TNT) on April 26.
"We joined TNT in 2008 to try to raise funds and increase
awareness for these deadly diseases soon after
Leukemia changed the life of my Brother-in-Law
Tim Drost and our family forever," Jesus Navarro commented.
"I am also running in honor of my young and courageous friends
Meghan and Tori who have battled intense treatment including breakthrough experimental drugs in order to survive.
In fact, the research performed to develop some of those
successful drugs were funded in part by donations made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society over the years."
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
