Sustainable Verona Hosts Verona's Outdoor Green Fair; Saturday, May 30; 11am to 3pm; Verona Civic Center, 600 Bloomfield Avenue

VERONA, NJ - This weekend, the Township of Verona, along with Verona's Green Team "Sustainable Verona," will be hosting a Green Fair. The public is invited to enjoy the free event located outdoors at the Verona Civic Center. The Fair is aimed towards raising awareness about environmental issues, innovative sustainability ideas and showcasing the steps people and communities can take to sustain their quality of life over the long term.

The event will feature live music, food and craft vendors, exhibitions from green businesses and family activities. The Fair takes place Saturday, May 30,  from 11am to 3pm at the Center, located at 600 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona.

Entertainment and Family Activities

• Live music by Matt Hartke
• Moms Clean Air Force activities, education and children's health displays
• Face Painting by Samme
• Verona Girl Scout Troop 21221 will teach how to make pet toys using recycled materials
• Plants, coupons and toy giveaways
  
• Verona Library will offer crafts for children using recycled materials
• The Verona Health Department will offer Ever Taste a Rainbow Program-coloring books and crayons
• Verona Recreation Department will offer a T-shirt giveaway

Donations Accepted

• PAWS of Montclair will be collecting gently used blankets, towels, used cell phones and printer cartridges
• Friends of the Verona Library is hosting a Book Swap and will be accepting book donations

• Verona Spine & Wellness will be offering Chair Massages, as well as chiropractic information regarding acupuncture and wellness coaching
• Verona Yoga will offer Yoga and Kung Fu demonstrations
• Cooking With Carlos will have live cooking demonstrations and recipes
• The Feel Better Seeded Pad will have Stylish Therapeutic Heating Pads
• Mudjestic Skincare will offer all-natural skincare products
• Purple Dragon Co-op will have organic produce and products
• Norwex will offer home and body care products

Environmental Vendors and Demonstrations

• US Green Building Council of NJ will provide a Sustainability presentation
• Morgan's Farm will have milkweed plants for sale
• TechniArt will have energy-efficient light bulbs for sale

• Liberty Science Center will offer a presentation
  
• Native Art, Minerals & Fossils will offer minerals, fossils, geological specimens and handmade jewelry
• Green Mojo Eco Consulting will have demonstrations and offer rain barrels and tumbling composters for sale
• Facility Solutions Group will offer energy-efficient products
• Essex County Master Gardeners will offer composting and sustainable gardening demonstrations
• Hillcrest Urban Gardening will offer Backyard Farmers installations
• Direct Energy Solar will offer residential solar installations
• Ron Grossinger will demonstrate Electric Vehicles
• Ed's Stone Age products will be available

Local Organizations and Township Departments

• Sustainable Verona will offer reusable bags for fair shopping as well as Clean Energy and current programs information
• Verona's Department of Public Works will offer E-Waste Collection
• Verona Police will have an unwanted Medicine Drop-off collection
• Verona's Environmental Commission will offer information on recycling and have bins and barrels on hand for distribution
• The Hilltop Conservancy and Verona Park Conservancy will have information on their programs
• The Verona Health Department will have information regarding the Verona In Motion program and Safe Routes to School map
• Verona Ropes Course & Adventure Program will have information on area trail maps
  
  

Sustainable Jersey Green Team
The township of Verona is a Bronze Level Sustainable Jersey certified community; one of only 180 in the state. Certified New Jersey municipalities create environmental programs which aim to  help their community improve efficiency, cut waste and stimulate the local economy; steps which propose to sustain their resident's quality of life over the long term. Verona's certification requirements included creating a Green Team made up of:
