![]() CALDWELL, NJ - The Dominican Sisters of Caldwell have announced that at the conclusion of the first day of their Annual Assembly, the Dominican Sisters’ Peace Award was presented to Sister Lena Picillo. The event took place at the evening's Vesper's Ceremony. ![]() The plaque cited Sister Lena as a “joyful messenger of the Gospel, advocate for the downtrodden, poor and marginalized.” According to the Dominicans, as she accepted the award, Picillo called to mind her own parents who she said were always putting others first and helping those in need. Sr. Lena expressed her gratitude to the Dominican Congregation for the many opportunities they provided her to be able to "reach out in projects of justice and to help extend ever-widening circles of peace even in small ways." For years, Sister Lena directed the Social Concerns program at St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, and is currently the principal of Aquinas Academy in Livingston. Comments are closed.
