by Carolyne Volpe Curley / Carolyne@WestEssexNOW.com Published 3:32pm CALDWELL, NJ - On Saturday morning, the Caldwell Public Library hosted their annual Summer Reading Kickoff party where children of all ages were invited to enjoy live a cappella singers, a juggling performance and free ices. The party launched summer reading registrations for students in preschool to grade 12 and many readers took the opportunity to sign up for the program. ![]() During the event, the library announced the five winners of their Fizz Boom Read bookmark contest which was open to students in preschool to grade 6. The library printed copies of each winning design and gave them out as the official Caldwell Library summer reading bookmarks. Young readers are welcome to pick up one of the bookmarks when they visit the library, and see all of the designs that were entered on display. The winners of the contest were:
![]() The collegiate barbershop quartet Gimme Four performed an engaging a cappella performance for the guests. The ensemble currently reign as the Barbershop Harmony Society's district collegiate quartet champions and are notably ranked eighth in the world at the collegiate level. Later, the guests enjoyed Italian ices which were donated by Gelotti's in Caldwell. The library will continue to register readers for their summer program; students can register anytime by stopping into the library to get their folder and gifts.
