FAIRFIELD, NJ - At about 3:43pm Tuesday, the Fairfield Police Department
responded to the scene of a three-car accident on Route 46 East near the Dey overpass.
According to Fairfield Deputy Chief Anthony Manna, Officer in Charge, all three cars were travelling east on Rt. 46 when the first vehicle, a 2008 Acura, slowed for the traffic in front of it. Reportedly, when the Acura slowed down, it was hit from behind by a 2003 Honda Odyssey, which was then struck from behind by a 1999 Ford Econoline van.
The multi-car accident resulted in the eastbound lanes being closed for approximately one hour. During that time, traffic was diverted onto Fairfield Road which then impacted the evening rush hour.

The accident is being investigated by Sergeant Christopher Niemiec; Fairfield Police alleged that Solis is an unlicensed driver and summonses are pending.
