While epidemiologists are still learning about the intricacies of the coronavirus and it numerous variants, it's become very clear that Covid-19 is highly contagious and can lead to serious illness and death in persons of all ages.

What follows is a representation, over time, of Covid-19 cases reported by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJ DOH). During the initial months of the pandemic the information was released sporadically, but starting on August 1, 2020 it has been updated daily by the state's reporting system.

Cases continue to rise as the large majority of New Jersey's schools are just beginning to open for in-person education.

Today, the New Jersey Department of Education reported to West Essex Now the following case report for NJ Summer Day Camps:

31 summer camp outbreaks have been reported to the NJ Department of Health
- an increase of 15 outbreaks in past two weeks
There are 178 cases associated with those outbreaks
- an increase of 89 cases in past two weeks
- 152 Children / 26 Staff

MIS-C Cases

Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) is the rare, highly aggressive disorder which affects children's organs and tissues following their exposure to Covid-19.
