Shaw served as Student Council President at Grover Cleveland Middle School, and in 2001, graduated from James Caldwell High School. He went on to study at Moravian College, where he also competed on the school's football team. After school, Ryan moved to Florida where he worked in advertising and more recently, participated in political fundraising.
"We would often see Ryan out in the yard throwing a football
or shooting baskets," a family member commented.
"We are all going to remember him for his big heart,
his kind soul, and his mischievous smile.
He was definitely a people person; between his quick wit and his adaptable personality, he was an engaging conversationalist regardless of the topic.
Ryan taught us the power of independent thinking
and of occasionally questioning authority,
and the importance of being generous to those in need."
"Everyone looked up to Ryan," another family member commented.
"He had even been selected to be President of the recovery center
because he was healthy and doing so well for quite some time.
The most important thing to him was helping the people in recovery with him.
That was Ryan's passion."
