Born in Glen Ridge, Andy was a lifelong resident of Caldwell and West Caldwell. He attended St. Aloysius School and Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell.
For over 24 years, he taught at James Caldwell High School and also served the school as the Head Football Coach, achieving several undefeated seasons, and as Head Golf Coach. In 1981, the Star Ledger newspaper named him the “Coach of the Year.” After retiring, Andy continued to volunteer as a football coach for James Caldwell, Clifton High School, and Orange High School. He was inducted into James Caldwell's Hall of Fame and received the same honor at Montclair State University.
Andy was also well-known in the community for his hospitality; he was a co-owner of the Huddle Inn in Fairfield and owner of Mangia-Questa in Verona.
"Andy was an exceptional and inspiring public speaker and touched so many throughout his life," a family member commented.
Andy is predeceased by his father Howard and his mother Helen Durborow who was the first councilwoman of Caldwell. Surviving him are:
